M. Tech (Polymer Engineering)

The polymer industry has seen unprecedented growth in the last few decades with only one institute offering an undergraduate, post-graduate as well as a doctoral programme in Polymer Engineering. Polymer engineering is a unique interdisciplinary natured programme, and is a confluence of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Spiritual-Scientific Knowledge System based modules. The core strength comprises of broadly two aspects:
  1. Academics and research include structure-property-processing correlation; energy, environment, and healthcare; advanced polymeric materials and processing, tool and product design.
  2. Industry-Academia interactions include industries like Reliance, DSM, DuPont, Garware, Tata, SABIC, Gharda, Supreme, Bajaj, etc. and research organizations like NCL, ARAI, DIAT, IIT, ICT, etc.
The curriculum focuses on all aspects of polymer industry from manufacturing to processing to end product development with an aim to infuse knowledge of the most recent advances and to promote innovative ideas and scientific thinking. The principal thrust of this programme is to train and equip the students to fulfill constantly growing requirements of Polymer and Allied industries as well as Academia and Research. The programme aims to cater the needs of developing and highly demanding Polymer and Process Industries across the globe. Our Alumni are placed in industries like Reliance, DSM, DuPont, Tata, Bajaj, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, Varroc, Supreme, BASF, Dow, Asian Paints, etc., apart from the Research Institutes like NCL, DIAT, DRDO, etc. Polymer engineers can themselves be entrepreneurs and free-lancer consultants.

Eligibility

The candidate should have passed B.E./B.Tech in Polymer Engineering/ Plastic Engineering/ Polymer Engineering and Technology/ Surface Coating Technology/ Rubber Technology/ Chemical Engineering/ Petrochemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Material Science/ Petroleum Engineering/ Textile Technology with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. [55% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA for the backward class candidate] are enrolled in the programme.
